King Parrot Cottages is home to approximately five kilometres of private bush walking tracks winding through forest, fern gullies and along the creek in the beautiful Pennyroyal Valley.
Our network of tracks includes the King Parrot Super Loop, Digga’s Avenue and the walk to King Parrot’s own private waterfall. Along the way you will pass towering eucalypts, fern-lined creeks and ever-changing views of the valley and bushland.
The waterfall walk includes seven creek crossings and a variety of terrain. Due to the uneven ground, slippery rocks and steep sections, the tracks are not suitable for everybody. A reasonable level of fitness and mobility is recommended.
Walking times vary greatly depending on your pace and how often you stop to take photos, watch wildlife or simply sit quietly in nature. Some guests complete the return walk to the waterfall in around an hour, while others happily spend several hours exploring the tracks and surrounding forest.
Seasonal Notes
Each season brings something different.
In summer, the waterfall may be a gentle trickle or simply a wet rock. During winter and after rain, the waterfall is often flowing strongly and the forest comes alive with lush green growth.
Please take extra care when crossing the creek, as rocks can be slippery and may move underfoot. Do not attempt creek crossings when water is flowing high or fast.

Wildlife
Wildlife is abundant throughout the property and you may encounter kangaroos, wallabies, native birds and other wildlife during your walk.
As with many Australian bush environments, snakes may be encountered, particularly during warmer months. Leeches can also be present on the waterfall walk, especially during wetter periods.
Whether you wander for five minutes or five hours, the land invites you to slow down and notice.
