Peaceful Otways accommodation near Lorne and the Great Ocean Road

Set across 196 private acres overlooking the Pennyroyal Valley, King Parrot is a place to step away from everyday life and reconnect with the people – and animals—you love.

Wake to birdsong and views across the valley. Walk from your cottage into the forest, cross Aquila Creek, visit the seasonal waterfall and say hello to the donkeys, horses, Highland cows, alpacas and sheep. Return to your cottage, light the wood fire and settle into the quiet of the Otways.

Located approximately 30 minutes from Lorne, one hour from Geelong and two hours from Melbourne, King Parrot feels wonderfully secluded while remaining within easy reach of the Great Ocean Road and surrounding Otways region.

Choose from five self-contained cottages, the Lodge and Hall for groups and retreats, or our small rainforest campground beside Aquila Creek.

Find the right King Parrot stay for you

Your own private cottage

When you book one of our five self-contained cottages or the Lodge and Hall, the entire cottage is yours for the duration of your stay. You will never share your cottage, kitchen, bathroom or outdoor living space with another booking.

Other guests may be staying in separate cottages across the property, and facilities such as the walking tracks, games room, swimming pool and guest gym are shared.

Weddings at King Parrot are held on an exclusive-use basis. If a wedding is taking place, only the wedding couple and their invited guests stay onsite—we do not accept unrelated accommodation bookings during weddings.

More than a cottage stay

Every King Parrot stay gives you the space to experience the property at your own pace.

During your stay, you can:

  • explore five kilometres of private bushwalking tracks;
  • walk through the forest to our seasonal waterfall;
  • meet the King Parrot animals and watch for native wildlife;
  • enjoy the games room, take a book libary and guest gym;
  • swim in the outdoor saltwater pool during the warmer months;
  • add a private infrared sauna session to your stay; and
  • spend quiet evenings beside your cottage’s indoor wood fire.

Dogs are welcome inside all five self-contained cottages, so they do not have to miss out on the family escape. Most of the property is unfenced, and dogs must remain on a lead around the cottages, shared facilities and animal paddocks. Read our dog-friendly stay information.

Five self-contained cottages

All five cottages face north to capture the natural sunlight, the Lodge and Hall enjoys views across the Pennyroyal Valley. Built using quality materials, including timber sourced from the property, each cottage sits naturally within its bushland surroundings.

Every cottage has its own living area, cooking facilities, private barbecue and outdoor space. Linen, bath towels and firewood for the indoor wood fire are provided, making it easy to arrive, settle in and begin slowing down.

For couples, Blackwood Cottage and Windmill Cottage each offer a king bedroom, wood fire and their own outdoor space.

For families and friends:

Lodge and Hall

The Lodge and Hall provide a private and flexible place for groups to stay, cook, eat and gather together.

The Lodge has three king bedrooms, three bathrooms, a spacious living and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen with commercial facilities. Single beds can be arranged in the adjoining Hall by prior agreement, allowing the Lodge and Hall to accommodate groups of up to 14 guests.

The Hall can be arranged for group meals, workshops, yoga, meditation and other approved activities. Together with its deck and peaceful Otways setting, it is particularly well suited to retreats, friendship groups, extended families and organised gatherings.
